^^ I doubt it. Maybe on here it's ok to discuss it (and it always has been, I think) but I'll bet it's still a no-no in Barbieville! Dunno about the Sony bbs though - it's become a little more relaxed on there lately but I reckon it's still mostly a taboo subject.
<font size="3" face="Tempus sans ITC, Papyrus,Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Nope, it does not mean that It's one thing to have been attracted to men at one point, it's entirely another to conclude the person must be gay or bi Quote:

In any case, that topic still remains (until i'm officially told otherwise) part of Darren's private life which has always been kept off the Sony bbs, anyway
Hmm ok
Still, considering so much has changed on the Sony BBS and they never inform us of the changes, never keep you poor mods informed, never get back to us about problems/changes, would they even think to change the ins and outs of rules if something truly momentous did happen.
Nothing against the jolly hard work you mods must do over there (I can't even comprehend), but would Sony/DH management even give a toss about what's happening at the Sony BBS anymore? Let alone any sort of rule revision?
<font size="3" face="Tempus sans ITC, Papyrus,Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">my thoughts exactly Amanda, I really dont think they care one iota or even look at what goes on there. I mean they never respond to any mod concerns theres no contact person. I dont think its monitored at all.Quote:

As for Darren bi gay straight or whatever. I dont think we all mind a good ole discussion about it but not in a sense of who he is actually seeing. Its a hard thing I reckon.. cause yes private life is one thing as in say Oh Darrens dating such and such or Darrens engaged ie like real facts. But I think the speculation about sexuality really could be opened up now as most of his songs are pretty ambigious and the guy plays this game with the media. Even saying things like "oh yeah men sure" is playing his ambigious game.. its not admitting to liking men its just not admitting to liking woman. I have always respected the privacy rule in regards to actual real private life ie no pics of ex etc or factual or rumoured romances.
just my thoughts anyhow.
<font size="3" face="Tempus sans ITC, Papyrus,Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">It's not really a matter of whether they would "catch" us at breaking the guidelines, it's more about respecting the heart of the guidelines which is basically to remain respectful to the artist on their own official bbs. I'm not saying that speculation about Darren's sexuality in itself is disrespectful, but merely that it's a slippery slope to get on and it would be very hard for Laurie and i to decide when the speculation had gone too far or was becoming just plain gossipy/spiteful/rude. Since it was gossip that nearly lead to the shutting down of the SG bbs years ago, i'm pretty wary of taking the bbs for granted. Darren has always told us that the bbs is our space, but it only remains thus as long as we follow the rules.Quote:

It is true that Sony/Darren are not known for punctual or even constant contact with us about rules and such, but that just means that I am going to assume that nothing has changed in that regard. It would be all to easy to assume their silence means consent but i would rather play it safe and assume a change that huge would prompt *someone* official to give us a heads up.
<font size="3" face="Tempus sans ITC, Papyrus,Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">i actually don't mind a discussion like that either, i just prefer to do it in unofficial places or privately Quote:

I forgot to say that part. I think as you said its a fine line with the sony board. You give an inch with it and many of them take a mile. I could pretty much be assured all the "Is he gay" type posts would flood that board. Its always been good to keep it all under wraps.. otherwise people wanna see pics of ex and talk about his lovelife. I like how we kept/keep all of that seperate.Quote:

I think alot of the interviews give enough food for thought and people can take what they want from them.
<font size="3" face="Tempus sans ITC, Papyrus,Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">That is exactly the problem, unfortunately. It only takes one careless or rude person to ruin it for the rest of the people who know how to have a proper respectful discussion. And people start asking "well if we can talk about *this*, why can't we talk about *that*" and suchQuote:

I understand fully why the guidelines are in place, not least because how quickly a piece of information could change from pure speculation to cold hard fact and spread like wildfire. As you say, there are plenty of ways for people to discuss this away from the boards. But maybe this interview has caused such a discussion because people have perceived comments made in this article as confirmation of their own suspicions. Apparently there was another thread on the fan club board (not specifically regarding this article) which was deleted because of the nature of the comments that some started making. It's made me realise something very important - I don't actually give a flying fig which way it is, because ultimately it doesn't change my view of the guy at all. I love the music, I think he's gorgeous and try as I might to stop feeling that way, I can't. (I didn't actually try VERY hard though! LOL!) I know not all of you feel that way, and that's fair enough. It's not like he's ever going to fall head over heels in love with a fan is it, as my friend pointed out! The world would be a boring place if we were all the same.Quote:

Apologies to Terry for hijacking this thread earlier and diverting the discussion to another topic!
Ultimately, I do hope Darren is exactly where he wants to be now!
